ITINERARY TAMBOPATA EXPEDIOTIONS 3 DAYS:
DAY 1: CUSCO – PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBO LODGE – MONKEY ISLAND. “GREENLANDS ROBLES“
Upon arrival of your flight or bus to Puerto Maldonado, our guides or staff will meet you at the airport or bus station and transfer you to the city center where you will experience the exotic local market. Depending on the time of arrival we may have the first lunch here or while traveling to the lodge or at the lodge.
We take our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River to the Tambo Eco Lodge and after leaving the port we will navigate directly through the confluence of two large tributaries of the Amazon rainforest, the Madre de Dios and the Tambopata.
In the afternoon we will make a 10 minute boat trip to Monkey Island, where you will see a great diversity of monkeys like the
At night we can appreciate raccoons, capybaras and a rich variety of birds.
Return to the Tambo Eco Lodge for a traditional dinner.
DAY 2: TAMBO LODGE – SANDOVAL LAKE – ESE´EJA NATIVE FAMILY.
After breakfast in the jungle, we take a hike to the famous Sandoval Lake, passing through the virgin jungle, home to beautiful flora. Your way through immense ancient trees and tangled in the vines; multicoloured flora and fauna included:
Giant otters, birds, colorful butterflies, alligators, turtles and a variety of fish. We will spend a few hours by canoe on this one of the most beautiful lakes in the region.
12.30 p.m. Lunch time.
Later, we will head downstream to the majestic Madre de Dios River to the Ese’Ejas Native Community.
From our boat we will be able to observe the rich jungle wildlife along the riverbanks and the magnificent flora. The “Rescue of Cultural Values” Project, located on Gamitana Island, works with two families who will show us the culture of their ancestors, their language and customs, their clothing and their dances.
In our modern and civilized world we have almost forgotten the existence of ancient cultures and traditions.
They give us the opportunity to have direct contact with a people of ancient warriors and hunters and to share their ancestral ways. We can return this gift by helping their economy and buying some of the products they make.
DAY 3: YAKARI – PARROT’S CLAY LICK – PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO OR LIMA.
Very early departure to witness the spectacle of the Parrot’s Clay Lick, sunrise on the rivers as we journey one and half hours to the wall before hundreds of green parrots congregate at first light each morning.
We will generally be able to spend about one hour here before reboarding the boat to enjoy breakfast on our return to Puerto Maldonado. Check in 2 hours before your flight on to Cusco or Lima. End of Tambopata expeditions 3 days.
