DAY 1: “TAMBOPATA EXPLORERS 5 DAYS” – CUSCO – PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBO ECO LODGE – MONKEY ISLAND:
Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, our staff will welcome you and take you to the center of town where you can experience the exotic local market.
Later we will take our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River for 30 minutes after leaving the port we will navigate directly through the confluence of two large Amazon jungle tributaries, the Madre de Dios and the Tambopata, the majestic view of the meeting of these two mother rivers.
A cool welcome drink awaits you in your bungalows to settle in.
In the afternoon we will take a 10 minute boat ride to Monkey Island, where you will appreciate a great diversity of monkeys.
Later in the evening we can appreciate raccoons, capybaras and a rich variety of birds.
Return to Yakari Canopy Jungle Adventure, for a traditional dinner.
DAY 2: TAMBO ECO LODGE – SANDOVAL LAKE – ESE´EJA NATIVE FAMILY:
After a big breakfast in the jungle, we take a one and a half hour hike to the famous Sandoval Lake.
Your way through immense ancient trees and tangled in the vines; multicolored flora and fauna included: Giant otters, birds, colorful butterflies, alligators, turtles and variety of fish.
We will spend a few hours by canoe on this one of the most beautiful lakes in the region.
In the afternoon, after lunch we will head downstream to the majestic Madre de Dios River for an hour to the Native Community of Ese Ejas that we will visit.
From our boat we will be able to observe the rich jungle wildlife along the riverbanks and the magnificent flora of this natural pharmacopeia.
In our modern world we have forgotten the existence of ancient cultures and traditions. Like Ese Eja’s reveals to us the customs and way of life of the indigenous peoples.
They give us the opportunity to have direct contact with a people of ancient warriors and hunters and to share their ancestral ways.
We can return this gift by helping their economy and buying some of the products they make.
DAY 3: YAKARI – CANOPY JUNGLE ADVENTURE. “TAMBOPATA EXPLORERS 5 DAYS”:
We will walk to the hanging bridge of the high canopy and the zip line goes into the virgin forest.
We reach the beginning of the adventure circuit by climbing a tower to the treetops and a platform 27 meters above the forest floor. You will feel the breeze on your face as you cross the 89 m long suspension bridge that leads to a platform at 37 m.
We return through the suspension bridge and ascend to the high platform that marks the beginning of the almost 200 m long zip line.
The 75 m long log bridge, which hangs 27 m above the ground, takes us to the platform at the beginning of the second zip line, a 160 m flight back to the tower and the staircase that descends to the forest floor. Later we return to the restaurant of the Tambo Lodge.
Then we go to the river in kayaks, well protected with life jackets, in a motor boat.
Going down the river, carried by the river, we can observe the numerous birds that populate these shores.
DAY 4: AMAZON PLANET WITH A RESCUE CENTER – GREENLANDS ROBLES:
After breakfast visit to Taricaya, an animal rescue center located on the right bank of the Madre de Dios River.
Taricaya offers the opportunity to observe closely the wild animals that are kept there.
These animals are rehabilitated and then released when appropriate into the reserve with a surveillance system.
Later we return to Yakari for lunch.
2.00 p.m. Visit to Gamitana Creek for fishing activities.
On the Gamitana Island we will be able to observe geese, monkeys, turtles and alligators on the shore. We will visit a small farm where we will recognize the local products, cocoa, banana, coffee, turmeric, achiote and cocona, and a great variety of fruits.
We will share a delicious lunch of local products trying all the tropical fruits grown in the farm as a dessert.
DAY 5: TAMBO LODGE – PARROT’S CLAY LICK – PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO.
We embarked very early for our destination, the Cachuela Parrot Clay Lick.
Early each day, the great variety of parrots congregate in the salegars, clay walls along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest.
The trip offers the unique opportunity to observe the flora and fauna in their natural habitat.
Upon arrival, we will stop at a discreet distance to await the arrival of the various species of parrots and macaws that congregate here each morning; in a spectacular display of color and sound, hundreds of wild parrots and macaws congregate for their mineral-rich clay breakfast.
This beautiful sunrise show lasts about an hour.
Around 7:30 am we return to Puerto Maldonado.
